Me and my girls

My workplace is a small, box-like building near the gate of the psychiatric ward called “Ambulatoriu” . It has large cracks in the walls and ceilings (We sometimes joke that the next earthquake might bury us under the building. The partners don’t seem to appreciate this fine humour.) which drip water when it’s raining, forming large poodles in the waiting room and in my cabinet. The girls stoically put a bucket under the dripping when the poodle becomes too large and work continues. After all, the hospital doesn’t have money to repair the roof, so we have to cope.

The inhabitants of the building are, in hierarchical order:

Adina - the psychiatrist. Elegant redhead, early forties . Has a sharp tongue and a fondness for knee-long skirts. Wishes for a partner although knows painfully well that she has way too high expectations from the potential candidates. Jokes about it.

Mia - the older psychologist. Mid fifties, bland as an unsalted mackerel . Paints floral motives on her cabinet’s furniture, talks about her dog and cats. Non-married, never talks about it. Has romantic feelings for the youngest male psychiatrist of the hospital, nicknamed Mr.Rose, thinks no one notices. We noticed.

Me - the younger psychologist.
Dana A -lower ranking nurse officially, higher ranking by very sharp tongue-ness. Late twenties, married, happily childfree. The best looking in the whole bunch and knowing that. Reason for the pelerinage of male employees to our humble workplace.
Dana B - the other nurse. Mid twenties, blonde, clueless. Has a history of colourful and rather abusive (but MANLY, dammit) boyfriends and tells us all about it daily, bless her heart.

More about the supporting cast on another occasion. Today is a state holiday so since Robi’s sister is visiting us, we’re off to show her some of the local ruins. Pics may follow.

I LOVE your discriptions of the ladies you work with. Great stuff! I go to school with a lot of girls like Dana B. The poor kids are just so lost at that age.

Thank you! Yes, there’s always a few of them in every highschool. Come to think of it, in college too.
