Having the cake and eating it too - otherwise known as capra si varza
I see there are some English - speaking peeps that haven’t given up the blog. And I love them dearly for doing that, even though there hasn’t been any posting since APRIL. (Dear Lord, am I lazy or what?). So ..erm .. there will still be some posting in English. Which will be tagged with ENGLISH and will get an all-English title, unless it’s about the mating habits of the Russian intelligentsia, in which case I might switch the title to Russian because Cyrillic letter are hip, trendy and oh-so-fun to decipher . Deal?
Deal! It’s very nice to know you.
Deal!
I don’t understand the impetus for suddenly intending on switching away from English…? Please explain?
hey actually no, no deal. Look, there are people missing you as well, they have been waiting patiently for you to return, but they cant comprehend Romanian. It would make me quite sad if one of my favorite bloggers would suddenly decide to switch to Swedish, his mother tongue.
However I would still read him, struggling with some online translator I guess
Well, to tell the truth, one of the biggest reasons that made me ..erm.. not so keen on writing was the lack of comments. The blog had lots of traffic, people read it and came back for more, yet there were 3-4 comments at best per post. I need this blog to get more life into it, to see people disagree with me, tell me their opinion, interact with each other .. I want to KNOW my readers, dammit. Since most of the readers are Romanians, I saw switching to Romanian as a possible way to obtain that. I’m eager to hear any other solution you peeps might have for this.
Welcome back!
I would say to keep it in English. Your English is so colorful and enjoyable. You can make a point to your readers that they can comment in whatever language they feel comfortable with. You said you have readers — so they can understand, even if their first language is not English. This way you don’t alienate anybody. I have readers who comment in Romanian, and I don’t mind - it actually makes it more interesting sometimes.
yeah, you’ve been lazy
ps.
you know to read those cyrlics you’re threatening with?
I totally agree that you should keep it in English, for obviously selfish reasons. I can’t understand Romanian, ergo I will be completely shut out when you switch.
I have the same situation with my blog… I don’t post as often any more but I still have really solid non-spam traffic, hundreds of regular non-spider readers a day. And yet only my mom and a few other people here and there leave comments. It’s weird, and diappointing because I think the natural tendency is to hope that people will like what you write and then comment to tell you.
I guess I’m guilty of skulking in the background of reading your site in this manner, myself!
Anyway, please keep on in English!
deal! I am actually waiting for posts in Hungarian so I can feel like those who don’t get Romanian.
Get it? (my way of saying good to have you back)
Lord: sorta. I had to, while traveling through Bulgaria. Most of the direction signs were using only that.
The others - ok, let’s keep it in English then, see what happens (meaning : I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU GUYS .. OR ELSE :d)
Oops…better late than never, I hope. I’ve been out of town for a few days, but I am here and Happy To Comment if that’s all it takes to keep one of my favorite writers posting!
By the way, Cyrillic works for me…I can read that one!
Thanks for keeping up with some English for all the rest of us.
